Shimla, also known as Simla, is a tourism paradise located in the midst of Himalayan cedars and pines at an altitude of 2,205 m above sea level. Known as the ‘Queen of Hill Stations’, the destination is spread over an area of 18 sq km. The capital city of Himachal Pradesh is located in the northwest Himalayas, in the northern part of India.The district of Shimla has numerous rivulets, small streams and springs and provides opportunities for trekking, rock-climbing and ice-skating. The city of Chandigarh, in northwest India, is located on the fringes of the Shivalik range of the Himalayas. Administratively, Chandigarh is the capital for both the states of Punjab and Haryana. The city is not under the jurisdiction of either state and is administered by the central government, and is thus, classified as a union territory. It is the main hub from which tourists travel to the Kullu-Manali region. Chandigarh shares its borders with the states of Haryana in the south and Punjab in the north it is a good hub to travel to these states. For travellers its main importance is that it serves as a gateway to the hills of Himachal Pradesh.

Day 02Shimla: Full day sightseeing

Today breakfast proceed for in and around sightseeing of SHIMLA, visit KUFRI, India’s one of the best holiday paradise Kufri in Shimla is beautifully tucked on an altitude of 2,622 meter. The place is a tourist hotspot for its awesome scenic and sports activities. Evening free to stroll in the famous shopping place of Shimla town – “THE MALL & THE RIDGE” This large open space in the heart of town presents excellent views of the mountain ranges. Shimla’s landmarks – the neo- gothic structure of Christ Church and the neo – Tudor library building – are worth seeing. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 03Shimla – Kullu - Manali(265 Kms, 7-8 Hours)

After breakfast leave for Manali, on the way sight-seeing like Sundernagar lake, Pandoh dam, Vaishno Devi Temple, Kullu and drive to Manali (257 kms / 6 hrs) a picture-perfect hill resort at an altitude of 1,929 meters. Set amidst pine-clad mountains, which gradually close in on both sides of the Beas and nestling in their shade, as though carved out of primeval forest, is a scattered hamlet, which comprises this picturesque summer resort. Arrive & check in the hotel. Night stay in Manali.

Day 04Manali - Local sightseeing

After breakfast local sightseeing of Manali “HADIMBA TEMPLE” Built in 1553 with a superbly crafted four tiered pagoda roof, it is famous for its exquisitely carved doorway . “CLUB HOUSE” The Club House with its comprehensive facilities that include a roller skating rink, an auditorium, billiards rooms, a library, a bar and restaurant makes wonderful outing for the day.” Tibetan Monastery, Van Vihar, and “VASHIST” Well known for its hot springs. There are old temples dedicated to the sage Vashisth and to Lord Rama.

Day 05Manali- Excursion to Rohtang Pass (Snow Point)

Today enjoy excursion to Rohtang Pass also called Snow point- enjoy the beauty of year round snow caped mountains. Overnight Manali.

Day 06Manali - Chandigarh - Local sightseeing (320 Kms )

After Breakfast check out from hotel. Drive to Chandigarh. Overnight at Chandigarh.

Day 07Chandigarh

After breakfast check out from the hotel & Visit Rock Garden – the lifetime dream of Mr. Nek Chand, Rose Garden And Sukhna Lake. After that drop at Chandigarh airport

TRAVEL TIPS

  1. Keep identity card/passport handy while travelling
  2. Ensure that your vehicle is securely locked before you leave it. Don’t leave cash or jewellery in your vehicle.
  3. Shop at Government emporiums. Prices are reasonable and quality assured. Himachal Emporium outlets are located at Bilaspur, Chamba, Dharamsala, Mandi, Kullu, Keylong, Reckong Peo, Nahan, Solan, and Shimla. Outside the state, these are at New Delhi, Bangalore and Chandigarh. You can also buy directly from craftsmen located throughout Himachal. But if you plan to carry them overseas, do take a receipt for customs.
  4. Normal banking hours are 10.00 am to 2.00 pm from Monday to Fridays, and 10.00 am to noon on Saturday. Some banks also have evening counters but these rarely deal in foreign currency. Banks remain closed on Sunday and gazette holidays.
  5. It is advisable to cover yourself with travel insurance for theft, loss and medi-claim.
  6. Do not leave your cash and valuables in your hotel rooms. Keep your cash divided in different pockets.
  7. Please keep important numbers of Tourist Information Offices/ Police Station with you.
  8. Do not stand at the edge of a cliff or on any bolder near a river bank for photographs etc. The water current in rivers of Himachal Pradesh is very strong and highly deceptive.
  9. Avoid Over night driving in the hills.
  10. Before taking part in any adventure activity such as trekking, rafting, paragliding, ensure the agencies offering such activities are authorized by the Government for the purpose and have a valid license to operate.
  11. Tourists intending to participate in adventure activities are advised to hire the services of those travel agents and guides who are registered with the Department of Tourism, HP Govt.
  12. While on adventure trips, attire yourself with proper clothing, shoes, stick, food, water, torch, match box/lighter etc.
  13. River Rafting for joy ride purpose in Himachal Pradesh is not permitted beyond rapid class-II grade.
